hello guys

i was planning to upgrade to a gtx 1080 ti but that would throw me off buying a vr headset by a lot

so i was thinking about getting the 1080 instead since i can change it for a far lower price (my old card: gtx 970+200$)

my specs with this:
I7 6700k
Asus maximus viii hero
Xfx pro series xxx 850w
Gw gtx 1080 phonix
16gb ddr4 corsair vengance lpx

but i dont know... What do you think will the gtx 1080 be enough to try out vr?

i mosly want to play it not need to max everything out im super hyped for volta anyway

i would like a solution that is not tedious like selling my 970 (not even sure if anybody want to buy it xP) and buying a 1080 ti for 700$ and go back to collecting again if its possible

bottom line is the gtx 1080 good enough for a first experience vr or nothing else than a 1080 ti maybe pascal xp? or there is nothing really good for vr right now just wait for volta(that i will for sure check out anyway x) )?

Edit: my monitor is 1080p60hz and i just changed from 900p so the upgrade is strictly for vr
(i will most likely have an other card when i change to 1440p or 4k not a gtx 1080p xD)

thank you for your help :)

thank you guys ill go for it than

i was not sure about it since its hard to find vr benchmarks
but as i saw the 1080 is fater than the 980 ti and that card could run vr very well (i saw the first vr tests on that card)
