I already checked on MSI site and Intel site. But just in case I misunderstood something. Haven't slept much since problems with old board. Need an experienced eye in case brain fa$%s .

Incompatible motherboard.

The b150 motherboard is too old and will not support the i3 9100f, despite the socket having the same pin count.

You will need a 300 series motherboard and even then some may need a bios update.

I would look for a b365 chipset motherboard as these are the most likely to work out of the box.

Thank you. Yeah I read up on 300 series but Intel made it extremely confusing why I needed to clarify, Unfortunately I need a board with a SPDIF out (Optical Audio) that will work with this CPU. And every other option I looked at so far (including changing CPUs) runs me into something well beyond my budget. It looks like my only option is to get something used at an Ebay auction or Kijiji

You could get a very cheap soundcard with a spidif output.
