[citation][nom]spectrewind[/nom]Some doctor, with money to burn, too much ego to ask, and no computer knowledge, will buy it. Just watch.[/citation]
Doctor? Try lawyer, banker; with current healthcare payoffs, being a doctor is more of a headache than an investment.

[citation][nom]snurp85[/nom]how can it cost 20k?!?!? even with a 50% markup on parts...mobo: 300core i7-2600K: 30024 gigs ram: 400quad SLI GTX590's: 3000 four 256gb SSD's: 2000two 1500W power supplies: 800water cooling: 300-500ishCase: 200even with allllll of that,thatd only cost $7500.what a ripoff.[/citation]
You're assuming the $20k rig has those components, even though the components list wasn't given and higher end components certainly exist. Although I'd definitely agree with you if the $20k version actually used similar components to the ones you listed, that would be a massive rip off.
...Oh ya, and you can't run 4 GTX590's in SLI, the max is 2.

Components right off the top of my head...
2x Xeon X5690: $3400
EVGA SR-2: $580
48GB DDR3: ~$900
4x GTX580: ~$1900 (could go significantly higher if you went with Quadro 6000's)
2x OCZ Vertex 3 480GB: $3800
...that's already nearly $10,600.

Just use your imagination, and things can get ridiculously expensive real quick.

It's overpriced and it's nothing better than what else you could probably build yourself besides the esthetics, it won't make games look any better because the damn things are made for 5 year old consoles' hardware in mind...

Now with that being typed on my Mac Pro, let me get back to downloading apps for my iPhone while reading an eBook on my iPad...

Oh snap! I left the windows open on my Porsche and it's starting to rain, better put on my Armani suit to not catch a cold. Oh and I just seen the time on my Rolex! It's getting late perhaps I should get to my Parnian Furniture bed... ... Ok ok I lied, I don't even read on my iPad...

Some people are so empty they're feel they're only as good the brands they wear/ drive/ talk into/ sleep into etc. And now there's a PC for them also!

For 20K the cables better all be replaced with RF modules. The massive raid SSD drive array better be molded into and hidden inside the frame rails of the case. The liquid cooling better have microscopic gold flakes mixed in, but I'd never see them because the lines would be all titanium. Any fans that MIGHT be necessary on the case better be Dyson blade-less type fans. The readout better be programmable with high res touchscreen OLD display.

I sure as hell would not expect to see cable clamps, screws, clear plastic hoses, crappy fans from newegg, and monochromatic displays from 1989.

I must be missing something for this to be worth 20K. Are there huge diamonds for the power and reset buttons?

Love the Tom's crown. Dissing the computer price because of the hardware. Charles makes art, not computers. If perfection doesn't appeal to you, then go to newegg and buy a coolermaster case and stick some lights in it.

These systems take hundreds of hours to craft. Go to http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/ to check out some more. It ain't just about the hardware...

[citation][nom]kingssman[/nom]wow 6k for watercooled? makes me wanna consider the liquid cooled macpro. Yea they're liquid cooled ya know.[/citation]

Mac Pros aren't liquid cooled, just big heat sinks and some great air management (took mine apart). Some of the G5s were liquid cooled though.

Also, by the way to anyone who may be interested in buying a murder box, its a total rip off. You can build their "$20000" rig for 3 grand by yourself. Kastraelie earlier said that it takes hundreds of hours to craft these computers, I can genuinely protest to that statement, as it is complete and utter bullshit.

Apple is even better price than these guys, and that says something.

Don't be a victim of what is essentially a scam. Those who markup their products to astronomical heights in the hope that they can make a few cheap bucks is blatantly wrong.

yeah im not paying that much for shit i can get on newegg. if anyone pays 20k for something, they shud expect alien hardware for 5 years from now

YEAH!!!! for all of stupid people who take Tom's at face value and not take the time to research. That build you see listed? That's old old news and I came across that particular one over 2 years ago. The latest hardware is used for his builds and 20k will be top of the line everything.

Is there a markup? Absolutely, but you are also paying for a clean, crisp style and form that you don't find just anywhere and that is a quite bit of labor.

Who cares if you can make a build for cheaper, that isn't the point.

Stupid clueless people.

Do the latest have dual hex-core CPUs, four GTX580 3 GB, ~6 500 GB latest-gen SSDs? No.

And as for style, what I like may not be what he likes, so mine may be cheaper and far more stylish (in my opinion). And that style does not take labour, just the correct case etc., unless it has custom case mods.

Dude, I'll make that murders company look like little kids who are super happy they just got their first comptia a+ certification .
For $10,500 I'll include:

Dual cpu Six core xeon over clocked to 4ghz, 12 cores, 24 threads, full sized water-cooler system for CPUs and 4 video cards. Quad gtx 580 evga water blocked in sli. 16gb of some fast 2000mhz ddr3' low timings for 2000mhz. thats 8gb per cpu! Three intel 510 series in raid 0, starting at 500 mb read/ 210 write without raid! 360gb in ssd's. 3x1tb hard drive 7200rpm 64mb cache sataIII in raid 2 for storage and reliability. Big good quality case, with wire management, and a clean water-cooling set up. Blue ray player. Another normal cd rom. Wireless network card, wired gaming network card, top of the sound card with front panel controls. An entire library of some sweet games, like 18 games, including crysis 2, bulletstorm, Starcraft 2. By no means would you ever need a system like this to run these games, this is just a price comparison. Windows seven ultimate 64bit. Full manufacture warranty ranging from 1-3 years. All this system will be good for by the way. Lol. Three way 24inch monitors 2ms. 1500 watt psu 80 plus certified. Gaming keyboard with tiny high def screen on it. Gaming mouse from razor. Nice speakers with big sub, Hard drive cooler, dual socket 1136 evga classified.

You send me a check and I will purchase this, and build it for you and install all the games and os, the complete set up and ship. Labor costs, $150.
I can do 8 hr a day customer service as well for all sales, bahaha.

I think I just ran the murders out of business!!! I mean, I cut off there air supply. The murders are just as bad as Microsoft trying to sell a $10k system in their store with a single six core intel, two video cards that were like 200 series nvidia, water cooler, no ssd, some bizare custom case. With a box 360 taken out of the original case with a water cooling system on it, all for $10k. Xbox360, $200' xbox360 water cooler, $300. I'd say like $3-4k max for it.but they wanted $10k.

I recommend Do your research before you buy anything.

Yeah, well an extra $10,000 for a professionally designed, even artistically designed computer is just too much for any rational person. I suppose this is for the uncomfortably wealthy who view art as a means to flaunt their social and financial status to their friends.

If I'm going to go the "artistic" route, it better be a case designed from the ground up, not a modded Silverstone case with pretty wiring and a neat water cooling setup. He's good, I'll give him that, but not $10,000 good.

For less than $600 more I'll add a water cooled xbox 360 with controller and hdmi connectors in the same case!!!

Bahaha.
Joking but I could do it if you wanted it.

By all means though, you'd be fine with a simple $2500 system, which is hardcore enough. That's a 2600k watercooled at 4.5-5ghz. 8gbs 2133mhz. 120gb ssd, windows ultimate seven 64bit. 1tb hd 7200rpm 64mb cache. Case, 1000 watt 80 plus cert psu, two gtx 570's in sli. Monitor keyboard mouse.

My computer cost me $2k and runs Crysis 2 with everything on and at 1920x1200 while watching a HD movie on the second 24inch LCD...

What does 20k get you? Fusion Power Core?
