Can you mix a New Display Driver (only) with an older CC Centre?

I know that it is possible to mix new, or old drivers with ATI Tray Tools, but is it possible to install new drivers, and use an older version of catalyst control centre? When installing AMD Drivers, i uncheck "AMD Vision Control Centre" so i use the drivers without AMD Centre, but with ATT.

If it's only the driver and nothing else, it will work.
