Question Can you play Modern game

Can you play Modern games on 4th gen I5? To my understanding the fifth generation and above run ddr4 ram. The question is it time for me to upgrade to a more modern cpu?

Yes, that generation CPU can handle most modern games. Of course that assumes you have sufficient memory and an adequate GPU.

As it is getting older, it might be a good time to start saving for a more modern (and capable) rig.

Yes it can. As said above, it is still good as long as the rest of the system is good too. To check how well it will play a game, I like to use https://www.game-debate.com/search/games Here you can choose your setup and it will tell you how it stacks up against the requirements for the game. If the parts are above 100 for minimum requirements then you can run it. If they are above 100 for recommend, you can play it most likely at high settings.
