I have two computers, both run 32 bit windows 8.1, however both systems are capable of running 64 bit architecture. whenever i try using 64 bit installation media, the windows icon shows for about 7 minutes, then some text shows up for a fraction of a second and then my PC restarts. i have tried using different forms of installation media (two CDs and a USB), 3 different hard drives, and two computers to find out what im doing wrong, but the results are the same every time. Does anyone know whats going on?

Solution
You can't simply upgrade any 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version (or vice versa). Due to a changes in the OS architectures, you must perform full "clean" installs to make the transition.
