Hi,

I'm in the process of building my computer right now and I ran into a small problem with the HDD that is making me wanna throw everything out the window.

I have a Corsair 540 case, and I have the Seagate Barracuda 2TB, and I'm trying to use the drive bay but I can't secure it in place. The only way I can secure it in place is if I connect the Sata cable, but the second I try to connect the power supply cable, it can't click in place because the damn wire is pushing up against the back.

The white and black can fit fine, but the second I attach both, the other one seems to hit against the back side and it won't let me click the drive bay in place.

So to fix it, I removed the hot swap bays but that didn't really work. Is there a solution to this?

If your trying to put the hard drive in one of the front hot swap bays then that could be your problem , those are made for SSDs , have you tried to put the hard drive in the hard drive rack inside the case. There you should be able to use a straight connector or a 90 degree.

Here are three options if you still cannot fit the hard drive, molex to sata , molex to 2x sata and sata cable extension.

Yeah it's the power plug. If I add it without the power plug, it clicks. I only have the Sata 90 deg (4 of them on one long wire). They're all 90 degrees.

Do I need to get a straight cable extender?

I'm sorry hard drive rack? Where's that? I saw that cage type thing in the back above the power source but that holds my SSD.. Where else can I put the HDD? I saw in pictures people put their HDD there.

Obviously that is a very unique case and in looking at the pictures of the inside of that case the only place to put a hard drive is the rack above the power supply. So you will need to get one of the adaptors that I had linked , unless you can put the hard drive so that more of it sticks out past the cage. You really only need two screws to hold it in place , sometimes you have to improvise.

I can't stickout the HDD or else the plastic strap will just break (I tried that). There's no other way I can do this? I'm surprised I can't fit the HDD. When I got my power supply, I only got the 90 degree sata power cables.

I'm not totally familiar with that case as it is a unique layout and doesn't have a normal hard drive rack. If I could see on first hand I could help you more but it's hard from the pictures. You may have to just buy one of the adaptors to get a straight sata connector unless someone that has the case can post what they did for a hard drive.

Thank you for your help. I ended up buying the straight cable to molex, and I'll just that. Thank you again.!
