Maybe im missing something here. I decided to fully reset my laptop and start clean due to the battery life and bloat of the Asus Rog ZM16 (I7 11800H & 3050 TI) at best I got 4 hours with the laptop set to 1 ghz and intel graphics. Laptop is fairly new and only used for college homework and cisco simulations.

Tried the built in reset option within windows settings, the failed and asked me to use the Windows Media option. Tried that but drives do not appear, tried diskpart and drives do not show up. Finally took the drives and put them in a desktop, all worked fine and got windows 11 on them. Bringing them back, the BSOD appears with 'inaccessible boot device'. The laptop does not have bitlocker or and device encryption. It also has very little BIO settings.

Any ideas on what I might be missing or doing wrong?

any chance you have Intel VMD controller enabled in bios?
if so, you might turn it off to see your drives in bios.

if you use intel vmd controller, the bios needs to have the proper support. (for cases where the bios was not updated)

BIOS – VMDVROC_1.efi and VMDVROC_2.efi – integrated into the UEFI BIOS
(updated march 2023)
Installing the OS onto another platform and migrating it onto another is a recipe for failures.

I would advise in recreating your bootable USB installer for your OS, then setting that as the primary boot device on your laptop. Make sure you the drive that you wish to install the OS onto, as the only drive installed on your laptop.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have repeated this step 2 other times and still cannot get a single drive to appear within the windows install tool to select as my primary drive. However it does appear in the BIOs as a device

The one mistake you made was letting Window fully install on the other computer.

I have did the same but during install of Windows STOP the finishing of the process when it goes to restart and you see " You window will restart in 10-9-8-7-6

That's when you kill the power remove the drive and put back into the correct machine. Simple reason it has not tied itself to the wrong system hardware until the reboot.

When you put the SSD back into correct machine and hit the power button the install will finish. DON'T plug in the USB with the windows installer.

Now I have no idea if your laptop needs special drivers for the host controller to read the SSD but when you have to use a different computer to force fit Windows the install needs to be cut and moved at that reboot.
