Can't read win xp dvds in win 7 laptop

I have been backing up pics on dvds using a xp laptop. I just purchased a win 7 laptop and it sees the dvd, but the pic folders are blank. all were saved as jpegs, any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Are you using multisession on the DVDs? I'm wondering if the Win7 laptop DVD player cannot see them because of this? I thought I had remembered reading that this could be an issue with multisession DVDs between different DVD drives? Have you ensured you can see the files in the XP laptop?

Thanks for the replay, not using multisession and can still see the pics on the xp machine. on win 7 I see the folders but when I open the folder it's empty.

So you have finalized the DVD? If not that may be the reason you can see it on the XP machine you created it on and not the 7 machine.

yes it was finalized. I have been doing some research and found that others with windows vista and windows 7 are having problems reading udf files what were created on win xp, but I still haven't found a solution for the problem.
