hello, i have this probleme where i cant run bf3 on any settings withoust having a massive lag or fps drop, i have 2x AMD hd radeon 6780 and an i7 prossesor, and 4 GB ram.. why cant i run it at atleast medium graphich setting?

Well, using a graphics card that doesn't exist might be your problem

haha yeah I figured, but I just couldn't help myself 😀

Well, as far as your hardware goes you shouldn't have any problem at running BF3 at the very least, medium settings... 4GB of system RAM isn't stellar these days but it's still enough to play BF3.

Try looking in both your AMD Catalyst game settings and your BF3 in-game settings and make sure you have Anti Aliasing (AA) turned off. If you accidentally had it cranked up to 8/16x with Edge-detect you would cripple your FPS in-game.

If that's not the case, you might want to try express-uninstalling ALL AMD drivers from your system, then running Treexy Driver Fusion (don't worry, the free version works just fine) and CCleaner on your registry, then after you've done that (in the order listed) install the latest AMD graphics drivers.

try setting everything at low first and start from there. install afterburner or something similar. with 1gb of gpu memory, you could set it at med-hi (mostly medium) so as not to go over that 1gb frame buffer.
i used to have a 560Ti with 1gb and thats what i set it to, usage was hovering at 900mb. if i go over, i see graphical glitches in-game. but i was getting 50-70fps (it probably dips below 50 sometimes but i cant watch the fps all the time). you could use this as reference. but start low, and work your way up.

If it were me, I would upgrade your system memory to 8GB and I would upgrade to a GPU w/ 2GB or more of VRAM. I personally lean towards Nvidia, so I would get anywhere from a 660ti to a 680 depending on your budget. My motto is spend big the first time so that you don't end up upgrading every 2-3 years and you'll never second guess your purchase due to performance. Here's an excellent option that would help you tackle ultra (w/ a system memory upgrade):

My Rig takes on High settings (w/o AA and motion blur) without lag - I have an FX-8150, Nvidia 560 (2GB) & 16GB of RAM. I am upgrading my GPU with tax money this year (probably a 670 or 680 depending on what deals are available) so that I can play on ultra but I am overall pretty happy with my experience.

No offense.

LOL at a GTX 670 @ $444

If you are not getting great scaling you have a problem -- also, check your settings as above.

You might be taking a 😱 ding in frames.

You know, this has probably been said a thousand times over.. But VRAM doesn't really dictate actual performance (on the other hand, memory clock does) - Unless you're talking multiple screens. Besides, his problem is with his GPUs not being able to run BF3 smoothly I don't think suggesting him to buy a new one is too helpful, no offense intended.

Is Crossfire enabled? What framerates are you getting and on what maps?
It could just be simply your GPUs don't have enough power to run the game butter-smooth, especially at higher settings. I mean, while using a single 580, never hit 60fps, always hovered around 45 on average on the highest settings, unless I was overclocked, but even then, had trouble maintaining 60FPS at all times. Your RAM could also be a factor, but the difference in upgrading would probably just be a few extra frames.

Those results seem to be taken based on performance from the campaign. Multiplayer performance will differ largely from the campaign for obvious reasons.
Also, Anandtech's benchmarks are showing up around 31FPS for a single 6870. Big difference from Tom's result of 51..

It's obvious (at least, to me) that 4x MSAA dinks Radeons 40%. That likely is reflected in Anand's tests.

I'm just babbling

The OP has 2xHD6870s and can likely do much better than he is currently performing. I would never question the greatness and wisdom of Jen-Hsun Huang or any of his company's fine $444 products...

Maybe.

Your ram is on the low side for BF3 but it played on high for me on my old system a Q6600 Quad 4gig Ram and a PowerColor 4890 and then the PowerColor 6970 it was a bit better.
I have seen audio drivers mess with video drivers and vice versa and you have more than enough video card with only one card in the PC at a time . First thing I would try is reinstalling your video drivers and audio drivers. and try a different method of getting your sound and see if that is what is hanging... use your system sound device or a discrete sound card if you are using the AMD Audio.
I would also take out the video cards and install them one at a time and test them separately. Also I would try removing some ram and run the sticks separately.
any of these could be the first thing to check. it just depends on what you know you've done already and what would be the quickest to check.

i do have crossfire on these two GPU's. Each with one GB

yes i have crossfire enabled, i also have tried running only one RAM brick at a time.

... I just want to play BF3 like a baws..

What they meant for you to do was test one GPU at a time as in take GPU 2 out of your system entirely and test GPU 1. If you can play BF3 fine with GPU1 only then GPU2 is probably bad. If you do the reverse then it's likely that GPU1 was bad. See what I mean?
