Can't uninstall amd gpu drivers - Help!

Hello all,

I cannot update my amd radeon 6970 drivers. I followed all of the steps on this site:

And I also downloaded the AMD Uninstall manager and used it.

Yet STILL when I open my device manager and check the driver version of my graphics card it says version 8.97.10.6, driver date 6/19/2012

What the HELL?!?! I need to install version 14.4 so that I can play Wolfenstein FFS!

you could also use the windows memory diagnostic if it says theres a problem there is a real problem just type windows diagnostic in the windows search

ok wait i downloaded it, and extracted files but... there is no exe

dont worry we will get you straight you need to put it on a flash drive this should help

you put it on the flash drive then use it to boot up then it checks your ram

Ok wait, I used a program to totally uninstall my graphics drivers and listen what happened. When I rebooted, at first it looked like it worked, it went to 600 x 800 display and when i loaded dxdiag it the driver version and all that was blank, like it had really been uninstalled. Then, after about 1 minute, the screen went black for about 2 seconds and then when my desktop came back up it was back to the resolution i usually have. Then i opened dxdiag and it went back to the 8.97 version! I think my computer has a hidden profile somewhere that is automatically loading every time i uninstall a driver and thats why i cant ever update it! what should i do? any ideas?

is it installing the driver go ahead and disconnect the ethernet cable then open device manager and click on display adapter uninstall and tell it to delete the files its a little box you check then restart and reinstall the new drivers restart and we will see

even when disconnected from the internet, the same thing happens.

do you have two sticks of ram

hey, i am trying the steps on this page but when i get to renaming the catroot2 folder my cmd prompt says "the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process"

Any ideas?

then restart and try to install the drivers again

any idea why i cant rename the catroot2 thing? i hope i didnt mess anything up by following the first few steps and getting thwarted at that part. going to try ram thing now
