CD/Dvd drive not recognising + hd prob! PLZ HELP!!!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm really hoping that someone can help me...

I have been given a dell 110L Latitude, i wanted to re-format the laptop.... but then found out that the d-drive is missing, i couldnt find it anywhere on the laptop, even after putting a disc in, the light would come on, but wouldnt load.

So i followed someone elses advice on the forum, where i had to go to the REGEDIT... and delete upper and lower filters, then restart, then the d-drive should appear.

I done this and now when i start up, i get an error message....missing - windows root system32 hal. 😱

And when i go into the bios, it is saying that there is no hardrive.

Hellllppppp, i havent got a clue why this is happening.

I hope someone can advise

could be somthing wrong on the main board. but best to do is remove both the HDD and cd drive and reinstall them and also reset BIOS defaults.

Thanks for answering so quick.... but thing is, i cant re-install the drive's, as i cant go any further than either seeing the message (As above) or getting into the bios.

So not sure where to go from here...

i was referring to removing the drive physically from the laptop and then putting them back in

Hi, I've tried that one, i thought that might of done the trick lol... but just my luck it didnt change anything!

Have you tried repairing the Windows installation with cd disc? That might help. Feel free to visit DigitalSupportTech for getting help.
