Yeah.

A long long time ago, but I can still remember, how that music used to make me smile... Digger rulz

true celeron is way better than cyrix processors but that can't really be the way to measure how good a processor is. at least cyrix is not even half the price... with the prices today, it looks like celeron is the competitor of athlon XP where athlon kicks a** ... so it looks like Celeron vs. Athlon XP and pentium 4 vs. AM64 now ... i think XP will be the value line for AMD...

btw new celeron's suck too ... did u read any reviews about celeron 2.8ghz .. even at 3ghz is way slower than an athlon xp 2500+ only better in one test which was something like encoding video?? (not 100% sure)... anyways .. are there still anyone who buys that cpu??? when u compare prices celeron is a competitor with XP processors and they suck. and p4 matches with AMD 64 processors where amd beats intel in most of game benchmarks.. i'm not an AMD fanatic but prices tell everything ..

just one thing left to do .... getting a nv6800 at least then i'll have a good system to play games :) (btw i keep changing the cpu most prob. i'll end up getting an A64)... for now just saving money for 6800 then i'll be 2800+ with 22" NEC 512ddr 😀 not too bad for for now 😀

Encoding video is MHz sensitive. No complex instruction switch so easy to predict. that why Intel with their high clock rate get good point there.

-Always put the blame on you first, then on the hardware !!!

yeah its been such a long trd. now i have amd xp@2.2ghz and nv6800 :))))) ... from celeron 1.7ghz r8500 :))) and still going on ... anyone else upgraded since this thread?? :)) most prob. everyone :)))

Are you a VooDoo Priest or something? Only you seem to enjoy raising things from the dead.

Every few months, I see this thread re-appearing....

Upgraded? Since May22nd?
Okay, to abit NF7-S then K8N-E Deluxe. Chip to xp-m 2500 @2.4 then A64 3200 @2.3 Graphics to 9600 pro, time to upgrade that soon. More ram of course, and I have a brand new Dual layer DVD burner, that I haven't put in yet.

It's a good thing. It reminds us how bad Celeron is

exactly ... i upgraded to nv6800 today ... its out of this world ... soon i'll be using p4 3.2ghz or amd 64 ... anyways .. spending too much on hardware .. wow.. time goes by so fast..

With Athlon64, you will surely cross 10k in 3DMark 2003

Yeah... a Friend of my brother wanted me to go have a look at his new PC a week ago... he payed ~£800 ($1200-$1400 perhaps?) for it, it's an HP.... Celery 2.8 with SIS integrated Gfx. It's dog-slow for everything, really horrible to use compared to even the 1400Mhz Duron I have at work as my Second PC.

Killing all unnecessary Services/Startup crap helped out a lot, but you can't polish a Turd, as they say. At least he has an AGP slot, so he can stick a decent Gfx card in.

And some fast ram of course... ...

The 15" LCD he got with it is not too bad though 😱

He asked what would get him the best gaming performance improvement.... One 9800Pro coming up. I'm just hoping the PSU will be up to the task.... But I think I have one I can spare somewhere if that turns out to be the case.

It'll still be a celery, but at least he'll be able to play the stuff he has at decent settings (such as postal 2, which runs really crappily ATM.

His 9800Pro will probably overclock better than mine :frown: .. The ones I buy for other people always do.. *cries*
