Hi
My desktop machine is mainly used for development and watching TV/DVD's - so not a huge need for gaming power.
I'm replacing one of my 19" monitors with a widescreen HD monitor and I currently have an ATI X1300 graphics card powering both monitors. It's OK with 2560x1024 (1280x1024 + 1280x1024 ), but not sure if it will cope with 3200x1024 if I use 1920x1080 on the new monitor.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to a way to go - I've had a look at GeForce 8500 & 9500, also the Radeon 5570, has to be a PCI-e as I don't have an AGP slot. Prefer the quiet ones ( i.e. heatsink rather than fan ) to keep the noise down.

System specs are Tyan S2915 - 2xOpteron 2347HE ( 1.9GHz, 8 cores in total ), 8GB ram, running Ubuntu 10.04 ( at the moment - want to upgrade to 11 ).

Thanks
Nigel
