Question choose the best external HDD

Both are comparable in ruggedness and built quality.

What capacity do you want to buy? The HDD's brand inside varies depending on the capacity, sometimes you get a Samsung HDD, sometimes you get a Seagate and so on. Personally I prefer an unit with WD HDD.

I'm looking for a 5 terabyte HDD.
I was thinking of a rugged and military-grade one to protect my data. I already had a 2-terabyte WD but it was not military-grade.

According to this article, the SP A85 uses a 5TB Seagate Barracuda HDD, which is pretty good choice of HDD.

It also has military grade protection.

Thank you so much for your reply.
Can you also let me know what HDDs are used inside Apacer AC732 and Adata HD710 pro?

Both AC732 and HD710 use Seagate HDD.

AC732 review, you can see the HDD serial is ST4000LM-024 which is a Seagate.

The teardown of a HD710 Pro, you can see at the end of the video the Seagate logo (blurry but still visible).

So, then why is the SP the best if these three are using the same HDD inside? (Or are they using different HDDs?)

That's about the 5TB version, the others versions may use different HDD, for example the A30 (1TB) uses a Samsung HDD.

What do you mean? Do these three external hard drives use three different HDDs in the 5 tb version of they all have the same HDDs?

And one more thing. Now that I have understood about their internal HDDs, are they even good choices for the money? Or should I buy a WD or Seagate instead? Or even cheaper E-HDDs from Adata or SP? Like these ones:

Actually I only can say that the A85, AC732 and HD710 use HDD from Seagate.

WD and Seagate are both OK.

I prefer WD mainly for the software included with the product.
