Hi, I'm going to restore an old PC but I'm having a hard time choosing between one of these two I already have:

Celeron 850 MHz (Coppermine)
256 MB RAM (64 for video, 192 for the system)
20 GB HDD
Modem

Pentium III 500 MHz
512 MB RAM
13 GB HDD
SiS 305 16 MB (Video card)
Modem

Which one's the best? I want to put a little linux, something like Xubuntu.

Thanks.

I'd put the 20 GB hd in the pIII, but also think either would work. Maybe even put all the ram in on one board if the board can handle it.

Coppermine has a better design plus more cache but since is a celeron it should be almost equal to the Pentium III.

Put the 20gbs and the RAm together in one motherboard with the video card and run a really quick benchmark with each processor to test them out.

Pentium III-S 1.4Ghz are selling for $30 on ebay, IMO they are the only worthy Pentium III.
