I'm trying to configure my Asus VE278H 27 inch monitor, I've set it to 1920x1080 and did a google search for circles, they look very oval to me. Perhaps I've just been looking at the screen for too long and need to test again later.

My graphics card is a Radeon HD 5700, latest drivers installed. Windows 7.

Also while I'm at it, silly question, if I opt for the 'bigger text' option in my screen resolution options, will that make say, all the text in my browser bigger too, or just filenames and the like? I'm not quite used to how small everything is in this resolution.

Solution
Maybe the circles you found were designed on a 4:3 monitor. A 4:3 aspect ratio is more square, so when you put them on your monitor which is 16:9 (more rectangular) they stretch out more. 1920 x 1080 is 16:9.
