MPC name Type Clock Runtime %Opteron runtime
opteron Opteron 1.4GHz 116 100
exclusive Athlon 1.33GHz 206 178
pc-itca P3 650MHz 663 572
pc-msta P3 933MHz 526 453
pc-itcb P4 1.7GHz 408 352
pc-mstb P4 2.53GHz 430 371

Nice benchmark it even show how fast it P4 1.7 so a willimete core vs a Northwood with faster ram faster FSB and a 800 mghz advantage but on aceshardware it will be call a Pro bias intel useur but that give scrap to trow around

Can you give us a link?

I didn't really understand it either...

Here are my attempts to do so:

1st Possibility: This number, runtime, represents the time needed to perform a certain fixed amount of calculations on each system. % of Opteron runtime compares how much time a specific system needed to complete, compared to Opteron (hence Opteron is 100%, and a 2.53Ghz P4 is at 371% of Opteron's time).

But things just don't make sense that way... because then, lower would be better, but how can a 2.53P4 be defeated by the 1.7Ghz Willie? Looks awful... But under this logic, the 933Mhz P3 takes less time than the 650Mhz P3, and that makes sense... strange...

2nd Possibility: I suppose it's also possible that those numbers are actually a score, i.e. are inversely proportional to the time it took that particular system to complete a fixed amount of calculations. Therefore, a 2.53Ghz Northwood is faster than a 1.7Ghz Willie. But then, of course, a 933Mhz P3 would be slower than a 633Mhz P3... That's obviously even more absurd...

So I take it that my 1st possibility is probably right. (the word "runtime" is also supportive of the 1st theory) However, in either case, I seriously doubt that these benchmarks have any real-world value, because we all know that a 2.53Ghz Northwood kicks 1.7Ghz Willie's rear end all over the place, and a 933Mhz P3 makes a 650Mhz P3 look small...

The numbers in the second to last column represent the time it took to do a particular task?

Dave

Yeah, you beat me to it. I put data in a spreadsheet. But you see the same thing I saw.

I have no idea. I guess it depends on how hard you throw it.

MPu name is 1 or in others word CPU name after is the type and is clock speed the number of time take in a scale that i dont know after is the relative time take vs opteron.

What the is test is unrelevante from where also. After looking at the result from the bennchmark any one can see that some thing very weird as a willimete beat a Northwood at much higher clock speed and faster bus.

At aceshardware someone point that wich was obivius and logic about 10 people was saying it was a pro Intel and Athlon work well under it type of workload this just get no sense i was thinking this was a isolate useur but not about 10 person have say the same that the guy was a pro intel.

Boards are like that after they see a good benchmark on 1 thing conclusion is made and flame is coming.I happy thing have calm down here but after reading coment on Itanium scaling i guess is no difference this apply to bolt side

None sense simple flaw in benchmark or totaly unfair settup or misprint.

A others misprint that lead to a others flame from AMD fan.On Itanium sheet from intel 1.3GHZ use more power that 1.5GHZ this been a misprint but all useur were conclude that Itanium 1.3 was flaw and prove how intel will go down by opteron.

I dont want to start a war on AMD but some are problematic also on intel but i found there more on AMD side but more clusless on intel side but i found the top useur across all boards are Intel useur manly due to older age. This is base on my own experience and statistque dont reply for say no or else that my choice i just want to express how i take it.
