Everything in the installation works fine just until I get to "Expanding Windows Files." Then it just sits there at 0%. Sometimes it will stop trying and just say; "Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002" but thats all that happens and it just restarts my computer. I know my hardware can handle the 64-bit version I've got 8 Gigs of ram so I don't know what the problem could be.

Solution
OK, I had this problem myself, I tried everything I possibly could, here is the solution. Torrent or Buy a new copy, the reason it doesn't progress is because of corrupted files. I got myself a pre-activated windows 7 .ISO file and burned it to a 4.7GB CD/DVD. Then I went to install it, honestly you need to be very patient with the expanding windows files. Sooner or later it will start to climb up 1% every 4 seconds. It took me a total of 15 minutes to have my fresh clean copy of windows 7 on my computer. 😉 Your Welcome!

What are you installing the OS from? A retail CD? Official Microsoft ISO?

Some system specs would also be nice

i would like to know what finaly helped u get it installed, im having the same problems and i have a small window pop up but its in japanese or chinese so so far i remain stuck.

hate waking up old topics, but this is exactly what is happening to me right now. really dont feel like waiting for another copy, neither do i have the tools for the burning version... sucks for me, had a feeling was going to run into problems building a pc. wish there was a legit fix without dishing out more money...

lol sorry for the response 2 years late, just incase this is still happening, which it probably isnt, try and find a download online, then make a bootable usb.. no need to use a disc..
