When I first installed my processor my cpu temps were around 33c idle, now after about 6 months they are at 45c idle. I'm going to take off the heatsink, clean off the thermal paste and put some new paste in. Anyone know of a good guide on doing this so I can make sure I don't mess up?

During the summertime your cpu will run warmer. I wouldn't remove it. Your temps are fine for this time of year. If you have a retail boxed cpu, be careful not to scrape off the thermal pad, or you may void the 3 year warranty.

I've always used Qtips and rubbing alcohol, its really no big deal at all, just make sure no residue is left behind, and or cotton from the Qtips, and only use enough thermal compound to thinly and evenly cover the Die only.

Right now it's cool outside unlike it was a few days ago. My idle temp is 41c right now so I'll take o1die's advice and wait until it gets cooler to decide if I need it. Thanks for the tips.
