Hi, so I've seen other posts on how to clean your pc from dust and I know I have to use compressed air but has anyone got any reccomendations on which to use? Because I know some can actually have gas in them which leave a residue which I'm worried about if it would damage anything, could someone link a could compressed air can that they use? Also, how often should I clean it? I know when I see dust but how much dust because obviously there will inevitably always be some dust in the system. Thanks for any help given:)

Ah, amazon.uk......that is why I asked "your market/neighborhood".
It did no good for me to suggest OfficeMax or Walgreens.

Yes, that will work. That stuff is pretty generic. You could probably find the same at any electronics retailer.
I take everything out of the pc
Start my 5hp power shop vacuum, reverse flow (push air out) , use the thin tip (the one used to get under stuff), and power air through everything.... best at I found to "clean" dust out of very dirty system (i.e. not cleaned in 2-3 years).
The I Redo the heat past on CPU and gpu, since they are out of case perfect time to do it.
Then 99.9% alcohol using micro fiber rags, on fans/fins etc. to get the stuck on layer.
Then after wiping inside of case with Windex to get rid of residual dust inside case, inspect and reinstall everything back in.

I use a slightly damp microfiber cloth on non electrical things to remove dust. I remove all dust filters and give them a thorough rinsing and drying before reinserting them. As for the rest, I'll use my small shop vac to either blow or suck out dust as needed.

The best thing is to not allow your machine to get heavily laden with dust if at all possible so as to cut down the need to really go at it with aggressive cleaning. Do a light cleaning on a regular basis and you'll be in good shape. Once every few weeks or once a month depending on where your rig is stored and how your environment in general will be what determines how often you should do it.

A clean rig is a happy rig. :)

DONT FORGET TO BLOCK YOUR FANS FROM SPINNING!

Wedge a piece of cardboard or ANYTHING you can use to keep all of your fans from spinning. Yes, your case fans, your CPU fans, your GPU fans. Fan can be severely damaged spinning at high RPMS without the fan's own motor being in use.

Any compressed air can should be fine. If you wanna be safe, get a can from an electronics store.

People often caution that using a vacuum cleaner to do this risks static electrical shocks to your system. This is because fast air flow through a vacuum hose and nozzle can sometimes build up a static charge. I do use a vacuum to suck up dist, but I don't touch the computer parts with the nozzle. Instead I hold the end of the hose slightly away from the parts. Then I get a small artist's paint brush and gently move it over all the small parts. This loosens any clinging dust into the air, and that is sucked away quickly by the vacuum hose with no contact.

If you want to blow air out with compressed air, the main thing to avoid is air compressors. They almost always have a system to apply minor amounts of lubricant to their internal parts, and it is fine oil droplets plus condensed water vapour in the air that can contaminate things. The CANS of compressed air you buy have had the air the thoroughly cleaned as the can is filled so they do no have this problem.
