CM Hyper 212+ & asrock z77e ITX problem

I was putting together anew build with an AsRock z77e ITX and the CM Hyper 212+, but it looks like the backplate for the cooler sits right on top of a transistor! Am I out of luck, and should just try again with a different model cooler? Is this common in the mini ITX form factor? Thanks for your help.

It's going on an i5 3570k inside BitFenix Prodigy. I didn't use the stock cooler because I wanted something that cooled better with less noise.

If you aren't overclocking the stock cooler is fine.

Yeah it fits easily, the case is amazing. I was hoping to OC it a bit, but it looks like I'll be running stock speed with the stock cooler until I can find a compatible cooler.

Evo has the same setup as the plus.

no I had to return it, I ended up using an Antec Kuhler 620, which has a plastic backplate. I was able to easy shave off a millimeter or so needed for it to fit.

The component actually is a 330uF capacitor.

Putting a component there is likely a violation of LGA1155 keep-out zones but I would not be surprised if many ITX boards ignored CPU back-side keep-out zones since ITX is not generally intended for market segments where people want large aftermarket coolers.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I just couldn't let the almighty AsRock be dissed. The fault is NOT in the mothetboard, it's in the cooler's bracket. Those problematic components on the motherboard are outside the keep-out-zone defined by Intel.

Now, I can't be bothered to take apart my AsRock Z77E-ITX based rig to check how high those components are, but at least the pics prove that they are not located in the keep-out-zone. Even if the components are higher than 2.54mm, which I think is unlikely, the cooler's bracket looks like it's designed to be a tight fit with the mobo. In other words, it wouldn't allow even for 2.54mm.

Conclusion: motherboard doesn't break Intel's specifications, but the cooler bracket does.
