College and monitors

OK. Heading off to college. Gotta get a monitor. Flat-panel preferably.

Course, it has to balance work and play, because I'm not likely to get out much. (I can't drive, so...)

Any recommendations on: A. What to look for? or B. What monitors are decent all-around and can fit a dorm room?

I'm going into my third year of college. The first year, I had a 19" CRT with me and this past year I had my 17" LCD. I can honestly say that having the LCD saved an incredible amount of desk space, you really notice it. I'd say just look for a reasonably priced name-brand monitor, as most have a decent quality. I'm sure someone here will chime in with a brand suggestion, personally I suggest a Samsung.
