We always carry it because some people wants it. They just got the idea hammered into their heads, like people just WANTS the 9200se with 256mb of ram, because some dumb@ss somewhere told them it's a good card, people are arrogant but oh well, they end up suffering, complaining and blame everything on us.
I understand you 100%. I worked for a PC store about 7-8 years ago. And it was amazing to hear people! Wow! The most abvious customer was someone who absolutly wanted to buy a Compaq PC nothing else. Even if we had both Compaq and "home-build" side by side running the same games/apps. The home-build was much faster for the price (basically more ram / faster HDD / less crappy software in the backgroud), but the guy wanted the Compaq. He bought it! I couldn't belive it... At that time, this was a lot of money!

We don't want people calling us about how to use a program which we didn't sell.
HE HE HE! I remember a woman that called me, because Windows was stuck on the "Wait before shutdown" screen. She didn't want to reset the computer, she was afraid to break it of void the warranty, It took me 5 minutes to convince her to do so. I won!!! She turn off the PC and boot it back! Wow! She was amazed to see it working again!

Now what's a good program for somebody on a low budget that wants to be illegal?
Any high-end programs like 3D Studio MAX, Maya, Adobe products... And of course, some MS software can't hurt!

Okay here's the one that pissed me off the most...

A guy named blah calls me, and starts yelling at me telling me that his internet isn't working, okay first of all, why the hell did he call me? We're not his ISP, but since he bought the comp from us i tried to help him. His problem was that he can't connect to the internet, so i ask him if he's using dial up or broadband, he said dial up. Okay, so i asked him if he's using a dedicate line for the internet and does he hear the weird noises when he connects, he told me yes he has dedicated line, and no he doesn't hear the noise. Then he startes yelling again telling me it's all our fault we gave him a faulty piece of sh*t computer, because the internet worked on his wife's laptop. Okay so i asked him if the phone line's connected to the modem, he responded(can't remember exactly), "phone line connected to the computer? my phone line's connected to the phone, how the hell do you think i'm talking to you!" Okay... I said i thought u had a dedicated line for the computer... He said well of course!! It's dedicated to the computer when i use the internet, and it's dedicated to the phone when i'm using the phone!!

Okay right there, that's when i wanted to beat the sh*t out of this guy.

Then I asked him if he has another line or cell phone to talk to me from, so he calls me back from his cell, he plugged the phone line into the modem, then he says yes there's the weird noise but it tells me the username/passwords are wrong. So I told him he has to check that with his ISP, but knowing this dumbass, i asked, could you tell me your username? And he told me andyrichter2k@msn.com

WHAT?! I asked him, "did you just tell me your email account?" He said yeah that's my username and password. ahh!! So took me another 5 minutes to explain to him that his username/password for his ISP is NOT his email username/password. A few min later he found his name/password for Telus, and he managed to connect, then for some reason he starts swearing again, saying how we didn't explain it properly, and he wants to speak to my manager(that was his mistake).

I gave the phone to my boss, and went back to work on the computer i was building, then all of a sudden, my boss just pretty much yelled in to the phone, okay this i remember, "You f*cking dickhead, if you read our policies properly it says CLEARLY we have a one year warranty on HARDWARE problems, we're not responsible for software! and Why the f*ck did you call us here in the first place? You have to contact your ISP for your internet problems! You just wasted 40min of one of my tech's time, so i'm going have to charge you a $30 service fee, now your name please..." And my boss hang up i guess the other guy hang up.

Then my boss laughed and told me the next time you talk to somebody like this, first try to tell them to contact the proper place, if he doesn't listen, then just swear at him and hangup, we don't need a customer like that anyways.

Hahaha! Thanks, scottchen  Though I am pretty sure most of us have similar stories to tell, it is always fun to read something like that and be amazed how dumb some people are. On the other hand, THANKS TO THESE MORONS we have job security

I remember once a long, long time ago I sent a guy to fix a client’s NOVELL problem (a company was unable to print their bills). He got there, spent 5 hours trying, rewrote everything by hand. When every attempt failed, in desperation we began checking cables and sure enough the printer was unplugged from the wall outlet. Now I never go deep until I have taken all the dumb-ass troubleshooting steps first . . . like, “Is your power turned on?” Is your cable plugged-in?” Well, you make mistakes and you learn.

Another time I recall a dude said that his CD was too big and did not fit. Of course, he was trying to jam it into the floppy drive. If I did not have to deal with that guy myself I would never have believed this if someone told me.

Check this: a student comes into one of my labs, sits herself down in front of a PC and says to me the PC is broken. I ask her what is wrong and she says that she moves the mouse but the screen is still black. Hmmm, I say, maybe you should try turning the power on?

Oh. The morons! God bless them. As long as they exist I will always have a well-paying job. <P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by Slava on 06/07/04 05:44 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

Yup, they're our job security, and I try to keep that in mind, but sometimes, i still want to beat them to death.

keep in mind that the above poster is only sudgesting the 6800 because it has "nvidia" in its name

meanwhile the card isnt released yet, and might not be for another month. most sites have reviews of the two cards, including tomshardware. as of now, its too early to make a decision...

I read this article in this mag, CPU , (Computer Power User). It was an interview with two of the tri-foundrs of nVidia. I think i may buy nVidia just for the excellent CEO and staff they have, that company has good ideals.

nV camp got a new recruit  Welcome aboard, brother

Well yeah i was joking. But I still believe nVidia has a way better ceo and ceo support staff than ati. You guys should really read that article. Personally, i think that NV50 will dominate everything, but again that is jusst my opinion.

Now what i really dont like is that ATI could make an R500 right now but they dont cause nVidias cards arent competitive enough. That and ATI currently forces more optimizations than nVidia does.

Off topic but yall might find this funny. The july issue of PC Gamer has this code that gives you a chance to get into EQ2 Beta. Well i bought an issue and my code didnt work. So i went to Barnes and Nobles today, and took pictures with my new diggy cam of like 5 more codes. Guess what?

NONE OF THEM WORKED!

Actaully the r500 can't come out right now. Ati is going to have major issues with that one probably take a good 6 more months to get in Shaders 3.0 and start using 32 bit precision. Completely new architecture.
