Will this motherboard work with my FX 9370

ASRock 970A-G/3.1 with AMD 970/SB950 ATX Motherboard - Socket AM3+

Just wondering, why are you considering using such a outdated CPU? There are newer CPU's for fairly cheap that would smoke that FX in gaming and multi-threaded apps.

Very few motherboards could handle the 9370 and even they were still prone to instability and early failure. The entire FX 9000 series is best avoided. Not a platform to be investing money in.

Agree. You need an expensive cooler and AMD recommended a minimum of a 850w psu. Even with all the right hardware you still might have issues getting it stable and if it is stable it is still outperformed by a 5 year old i5.

I already have the chip I just need to know what’s a motherboard that will be best and stable.

I had an Asus Sabertooth but burned up do to nothing related to the processor. Yes it’s water cooled.

Sell the 9370 and your DDR3 ram and use that plus they money you'd have spent on the motherboard to upgrade to a newer better platform rather than spend money on that old platform.

With Ryzen 3rd gen coming out in a couple of months we've seen quite the price reduction for earlier Ryzen CPU's, not to mention those selling there first/second gens for the upcoming series. If you live near a Microcenter and it still has the 1600 in stock there going for $80 and it would absolutely destroy that FX 9370 in gaming/multitasking not too mention the money saved by not having to watercool the 1600 and would put you on a better upgrade path using DDR4 and the 4th gen (rumor) in 2020.
