Question Compatibility of NVMe M.2 SSDs with Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 Motherboard

Hi,

So I'm looking to buy an M.2 SSD which will hold my OS and maybe a ~2 games. I've narrowed down my options to the Crucial P5 Plus 500GB and WD Black SN850 500GB.

So far I have confirmed that the M.2 Slot on my Asrock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 mobo supports the 2280 M-key type, but I need help to know whether I'm missing to check anything else.

P.S: Would love to hear any other recommendations of M.2 SSDs as well. I've just selected the above two based on read/write speeds and budget.

Below is a cut and paste from the spec sheet of your motherboard. Looks like it supports up to PCIe 4.0 drives in either M.2 port...one of which also supports a SATA drive.

I have no idea what all those painters' names mean. Fancy Dan AsRock-specific lingo I guess.

The practical noticeable difference between PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 is minimal. You might consider stepping back to maybe WD SN750, which is 3.0, to save a few bucks. Samsung 970 EVO Plus also a decent choice; also 3.0.

A lot of people are benchmark-obsessed. If you are one of them, by all means get a PCIe 4.0 drive.

Hey! Thanks for clarifying on the compatibility! I checked up on the SN750 and 970 EVO like you mentioned, and they're almost equally priced to the SN850/Crucial P5 plus where I live (I provided Newegg links in my question and not my local retailers link to make it simpler).
Considering this, I guess SN850 or the Crucial P5 plus shouldn't be a problem.
