Compatible software with vista

i need software the is compatible with vista and sony camcorders so i can download the images to my computer and use it in a movie making program. Does anyone now where i can find this software online?

Does it not show up on the Computer window when you connect the camcorder? It should either appear as another drive (directly connecting to the SD card, or Sony memory card), or as a separate portable device.
