According to the information provided, we can expect higher power consumption and, of course, it will probably run hot. I'd imagine much more cooling required for these cards, perhaps noisy fans even... one of the recent trademarks of Nvidia sadly =/

This information seems fishy, Look at the source site, the comentors there don't believe it and + there are no benchmarks, just random numbers people pulled out of their bum. People that don't know better will wait till nvidia card rolls out, and might even be dissapointed. I am guessing that NV might have problem with low yields. Also NV themselves said that they won't be hotclocking their shaders (making them run roughly 2x faster then the geometry domain of the card). So i call fake.

I guess I missed the info on why the huge jump in prices happened here: A bit over a year ago the flagship 580 came out at US$499-539. Its dual unit superior was US$699. This "leak" suggests the single GPU flagship is $699, the dual $999. That seems consistent with AMD's large jump in pricing - is no one else bothered by this?

Glad i waited, this is why i will always choose Nvidia over AMD. The quote from that Nvidia rep saying they expected more from AMD says it all. If you want the best, you want Nvidia.

512bit on DDR5??? unrealistic. They never been this different. It is better for them to make a card a bit faster but at lower production cost. I think the info is bogus.

Ya a GTX660 and GTX640 will have 2GB VRAM, yet a GTX660Ti will have 1.5GB and a GTX670 will have 1.75GB. I call BS.

Well everything being equal, a 7970 die is about 66% of the size of the GTX680. And we know that the 7970 has a TDP of 250W, so unless Nvidia has some insanely good power optimizations overt the 7970 (i don't think it will as the 7970 is pretty damn efficient), we are looking at around 350W TDP for the GTX680, so twin 8 pins with not a whole a lot of OC headroom. Ohh and the card will need a huge cooler, so I am guessing about 12+ inch length or a standard triple slot design. We are going to go back to the 5870 and 480GTX days, sure the 480 was faster, but at what cost...

Wow, those are some nasty price points. Everything seems to have jumped up a bracket in price. $500 used to be their flagship single GPU. I guess Nvidia really expects a winner here. OR could it be....

Yep, price fixing at its finest. I remember a year or two back some e-mails between AMD and Nvidia were leaked that showed evidence of them collaborating to fix/inflate GPU prices.

performance-power efficiency comparison between 78xx vs gtx650ti/650 and 79xx vs 680/670/660ti.....
if kepler's power consumption is like fermi cards, imo amd will win. sales is another story (nvidia usually makes more money:()....

Anyone notice the clock speed for the core? 3/4 to 9 tenths of a tetrahertz? Dudes proof read your charts.

I just want them to start getting the power consumption lower. At the rate we're going, we'll be required to have power supplies running at 1.21 gigawatts in the near future...

I do not believe those specs.

550mm2 and 6.4B transistors, that's pretty much but not that effective as ATI Graphics with even smaller die size a powerful chip than the last one.

"The GTX 680 is set to show a 45 percent performance increase over the HD 7970, while the GTX 670 shows a 20 percent improvement... " speculative numbers anyway.

AMD pulled quite a marketing scheme by releasing high end cards with extremely conservative clock/memory speeds, that has "High Overclock Potential 25-30%." It sells well to do it like this. You know, release a card with "great potential," then jack up the price so people think they got they're moneys worth. If they wanted they could have easily released these cards with that same overclock back in January.

Maybe by the time Nvidia releases it's 680, AMD will have done a lil bit of tweaking, and will release overclocked cards that will negate that 20-45% improvement, and bring it down to 0-20%. Oh, 7970 drivers should be optimized by then which will bring that performance down even more.

I'm not dissing AMD, well, maybe a lil bit.

No not really. They are still drastically increasing the performance per dollar with this new generation if this leak is real. They are moving the gtx580 performance level from $500 to $320, which seems about right for new generation. As opposed to AMD where they priced their new offerings above the old leaving the performance per dollar exactly the same.

The GTX 670 looks to be as big of a jump in performance if not more over the 580 as the 580 was over the 480, they just now have a tier above that. Remember the 580 has 512 cores, the 480 had 480, but the 670 looks to have 896, if this leak is true.

well using 7970 here and having the time of my life! :D
all games running ultra 8x antialising with 80+ fps most of the time 1920x1200 res, enough for me :)

I don't mind who ever win the performance race, the best performing card at my preferred resolution /software will be in the machine.

As for the Nvidia fanbois i have to say Amd have improved on their drivers as off late (got 7970 now) and for the Amd fanbois i have to say Nvidia heat / power consumption isn't as bad as some make you believe (had 2x480gtx before and they run nicely). Stick with whatever card suits your situation, there are plenty to choose from and picking the correct one is imo worth more than being brand stuck.

I doubt those figures tho, will be interesting when the real numbers arrive!
