The funny thing is that the promise of having a 'brick and mortar' presence is that you could provide people with a chance to play with the product they are interested in buying and then have a knowledgable sales person provide you with information regarding the product.
You go into CompUSA and there is maybe two salespeople who aren't manning a register or hanging out at customer service. Whenever you ask them a question, they always seem to look out to the horizon for some magical 'other' person who can help you. When that mysteriuous prancing german is no where to be found, they reluctantly take you to the product only to read the technical information that is provided on the little card for them.
On top of all that, their prices are absolutely rediculous. I had a laptop HD fail and CompUSA wanted $200 for some no name 20GB 'thing' that did not even list the RPM on the side of the box. I go to Newegg.com(thank god they exist) and found a recent 30GB introduction by Fujitsu for $99.
You have to be kidding me. Most of the salespeople no absolutely nothing and those that do are usually already engaged with another customer. Their prices are consistently double what one could find online (or even Circuit City).
It is clear...CompUSA has failed!
