Hi,
I have been experiencing frequent computer crashes on my custom-built computer. My system specifications are as follows.
Motherboard - Asus Rampage 3 Formula
Graphics card - Asus Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit
Power Supply - Huntkey 700W
RAM - 6x Kingston 2GB modules
Hard Drives - 1x SSD, 3x 1TB Western Digital Drives
Processor - Intel Core i7-950 @ 3.07GHz *Overclocked to 3.3GHz for about 5min idle, then reverted all the settings back to Default. Had problems crashing BEFORE the overclock.
The crashes happen most commonly while I am playing games such as Guild Wars 2 and less frequently on League of Legends. The computer shuts off completely without a BSOD and reboots itself. I receive the screen "Windows did not shutdown correctly, possibly to protect data" ect. These crashes only seem to happen at my house. Crashes happen much less frequently, almost never at other locations away from home. I hear a strange, low buzzing noise coming from my power supply. It sounds like an electrical issue. The fan is running correctly. The buzzing noise occurs at random times and stops after approximately 45 seconds. The rig is about 2-3 years old.
Some help would be much appreciated!
