Hi everyone.

My desktop kept restarting before it could actually load my homepage. I would restart every 5 seconds and I had all the modes (safe mode etc..). I called my computer company and they told me the motherboard was damaged, it'll never work, and told me to buy a new computer.

However, after leaving it off for a while, it WORKED! It booted to my home screen. Some one told me it could have been an overheating problem.

it's working just this once but I'm scared once I turn it off the computer will encounter the same restarting problem. Please tell me what to do while the computer is still on and working? This may be my only chance to fix the problem!

Right now I'm running a malware scan. Anything else I should do?? Should I check the registry or drivers? I don't know how. Please help? and what else...?

Just to note, I'm pretty much an amatuer when it comes computers. Please be as specific as you can. I truly appreciate all the help.

If it was an overheating problem, the computer would just shut off. You should disable automatic restarts so you can at least see why Windows crashed.

Yes...I do want to see why Windows crashed. But how can I do that? Specific steps please?

Right click on My Computer --> Properties --> Advanced --> Settings under Startup and Recovery --> Uncheck Automatically restart
