Computer stuck in shortcut mode?

Clicking works fine, but I can’t type in game, or in applications such as discord.

It seems as if that when I’m in an application, (i.e. google chrome, discord) almost any letter or number button pressed is a shortcut.

The widows key shortcuts don’t work.

Restarting or shutting down doesn’t fix it

Please help me, it’s really frustrating.

might be sticky keys.
if you're a gamer, this is an issue for sure.

press the Shift key 5 times in a row and a box will appear. go into settings and untick everything.
Then disable sticky keys

Is it possible you have a stuck key(s) that you are unaware of? Perhaps Window's on-screen keyboard will shoe you that, or else try another keyboard.

The onscreen keyboard did not show any stuck keys.

lol. onscreen keyboard won't show you if keys are being pressed.

go to this link and make sure you have sound enabled and turned up on your system.
If a CTRL key or other key is being full pressed all the time, it won't show you the key being pressed but it will make a non stop clicking sound to represent a key being pressed.

There was no continuous clicking sound, only a click when I clicked a button. I tested another keyboard and the shortcuts still occurred, it is not a keyboard issue.

No idea how to get to BIOS, I updated my Alienware and when I restarted I could type normally for 3 seconds until the shortcuts began again.

bios... when you turn on the computer after shutting down, the splash screen appears where it tells you to press a certain key to enter setup.
That is the BIOS.

I don’t get any pre-login screens, I know what you’re talking about, none pop up with Alienware.

ouch. fast boot is definitely enabled then.
Clear the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery and waiting about 5 minutes.

I’ve had fast boot on ever since I’ve had the computer, how could it be the issue now?

fast boot can sometimes cause an issue with usb keyboard inputs getting wonky.
Especially if you've upgraded from windows 8 to windows 10.

Put your system to sleep and then wake it up again. For some reason this often fixes it.

This works, but when I press “6” on my keyboard it starts all over again. Any idea why?
