Computer won’t turn on

I have a gtx 550 ti graphics card and a sabertooth 990fx r3.0 mobo. I was using my computer normally, installing the ASUS Aura driver. It asked me to restart my computer and i did. When it was done it showed me the sign-in page. After a few seconds it shut down abruptly. I couldn’t do anything to get it to turn back on. Later I took out and unplugged the gpu to get to the button battery. I took out the battery to reset it and the put it back in. (This is all while it was unplugged). I didn’t put the gpu back in and pressed the on button, it then turned on. So I shut it down and put the gpu back in but again my computer won’t do anything.

Well.....if it starts without the GPU.....I would be focusing on two things.....the GPU and the PSU voltages.

I would check the PSU voltages with the card out....and with the card in. They should remain in spec in both cases.

If they don't, you need a PSU.

If they do, I would put the GPU in another machine and try it.

How do I check the voltages?

With the card in and the card out I get 12.28V on the 6 pin input connector for my gpu. By the way I have a few LEDs on my mobo that say CPU, DRAM, VGA, BOOT, and POWER. The power one is always on, on startup the CPU one turns on then turns off. Currently the DRAM stays on right now.

With the card in and the card out I get 12.28V on the 6 pin input connector for my gpu.

This is good.

Although I think the power light may be indicating a PSU problem.

I think you should check the other voltages....mainly the +5 volt one. That should be between 4.75 and 5.25 and it is the red and black wires on the connector.

The memory light may just be coming on as a result of a PSU problem.

The power light just means that the mobo has power. It’s always on even when the computer was working. The computer doesn’t do anything once I plug the power into the gpu, but it will turn on with the gpu in the mobo but not with the power plugged in. It’s like the computer doesn’t like the gpu.
