Hello,

I finished building my first rig last night, and it won't boot up. When I turn the power supply on the light on the motherboard comes on, and everything looks fine. However, when I try to start it up, I get nothing. Sometimes when I press the start button the fans light up as if they are going to start, but a split second later they turn off, and nothing else happens. I did a check on all the cords and couldn't find any problems. I went through most of the suggestions on this thread http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-boot-video-problems but didn't get anywhere.

Any suggestions of what might be the problem or a link to a similar thread would be greatly appreciated!

Solution
do you have an extra stick of ram (2GB or smaller)

Asus MB are somewhat sticky with factory BIOS,,, put in smaller module as the 4GB will not work, then boot into windows, download update program and new bios, then update from windows,, then you can shutdown and put in the 4GB modules
