Hello.

I wanted to upgrade my GFs components as I had some older parts laying around. More specifically I wanted to upgrade the CPU.

My old i3 9100f should do the trick for her gaming needs.

Now, the MOBO def needed an upgrade as the socket was a mismatch, so I just picked up a cheap used Asus Prime h310m-k. I was stupid enough to just buy it as it had the 1151 socked and didn't think much of it, it also cost like 20 bucks.

I see now though, that the MOBO don't support 9th gen unless its the R.2 version, which I'm positive it isn't. No box provided.

Computer won't POST. Tried everything I could think of: reseating everything, trying different RAM, no peripherals connected, reset the CMOS battery.

Still nothing..

Could I be missing something or does the MOBO just not support the i3 9100f?

Okay, so you're saying the Asus Prime h310m-k, should work with a i3-9100f?
Yes with the proper bios should it work, unless the motherboard has some other flaw of course.

Okay, so you're saying the Asus Prime h310m-k, not the Rev.2, should work with a i3-9100f?

Ye I've got my old RX570 which is working fine.

Besides checking the motherboard box, you can check the PCB itself. Most Asus mobos I worked with over the years (if not all) had the revision number printed on the PCB. May be hard to find, but should be there somewhere.
