Case: Corsair Carbide 300R Mid Tower Case
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68

Hi I recently purchased my first gaming PC and my case and Motherboard came today (these are the first two items to arrive) I have got the motherboard inside the case and do not under stand the cables that run from the case.

In the manual for case all it says it comes with is Front I/O: (x2) USB 3.0, (x1) Headphone, (x1) Mic. I know that the smaller connections are for the power switch etc but there is one large black cable that says USB 3.0 on it and there is no where on my mobo this will connect to.

I have seen cases before that have a connection on them that connects into a usb connection on motherboard.

Can someone please tell me what this thick black cable is and where does it go? Do I have to buy something extra in order for me to get my usb plugs working?

The cable is 20 pins by the way
Sorry for the noob question

Please reply Thanks.

That motherboard doesn't support USB 3.0 (well the I/O panel does)

To get USB 3.0 for the front panel, you needed to get the P8Z68-V LE or above.

So will I not be able to get any USB ports working on my system at all? The motherboard has like 4 slots on it labelled USB but there is nothing, no wires that run from the case that I could connect into these slots? Is there anything I can do?

The USB slots at the back of the case is there no way to get them to work?

Ok, so would that go into a drive bay? I dont understand how you could have that in a drive bay and be able to plug in connections to it from there. Would it not need to go into a PCI slot or something?

Thanks alot for your help.

Alright no problem. Last question if you don'y mind.. Is there anyway at all to get the front panel USB working on my motherboard becuase on the box it does say that it supports USB 3.0
