Connect from host to guest?

My host has an IP of 20.168.1.2 from a router DHCP.
I have a virtual environment which has a DC and DNS and the IP is: 192.168.1.x
how can I get access from my host to the virtual environment? What do I need to setup on the host OS? (Windows)

Your router should allow you to set up an internal LAN, your DNS should probably be left to your ISP. Your computer should be set up to obtain an IP address automatically from the router's internal LAN DHCP service, which is distinct from the WAN IP address assigned by your ISP's DHCP service.

Thanks but not quite what I was looking for

So lets forget about the ISP - this has got nothing to do with them.

I am creating a private network in a virtual environment. It works fine.
I want my host to now be able to connect to the virtual environment and access its resources (like shares/computer drives etc...)

how can I do this?

The private network has its own DHCP and DNS if this helps

Ah, sorry I misunderstood.

Are you using VMWare, XP Mode, or another VM?

In any event you should be able to bridge the network adapter and virtual adapter, but many also allow you to share the host drives directly, unless you really want to share the drives over a virtual network, i.e. bridge then map a network drive -- then bridging is the way to go.
