I have a Asus Prime Z390-A mother board and a core i9-9900 cpu. I was wondering if i can connect the NVME SSD drive to the CPU PCIE lanes. The cpu and board does support bifurcation of the 16 CPU lanes to x8/x8 and the board has 2 x16 slots connected to the CPU(i think PCIEX16_1/2). It seems like it should be possible to attach my m2 nvme ssd to a PCIE adapter and plug it into one of the x16 slots and have it work. Has anybody done this or have any advice on why i should or should not do this ? i understand the performance difference should not be noticeable but i want to do it anyway, for the fun of it, unless it absolutely wont work.
