Connect old HP PC to new Insignia HDTV

Hello,
I am trying to connect my PC straight to my new HDTV. I'll worry about surround sound later (baby steps). So far, I've been able to get a VGA-cable image that is immaculate but I've tried EVERY possible connection for audio and I hear nothing. I am trying to streamline movies from Netflix. Every time I go to Best Buy they send me home with 3 new cables which don't work. Please tell me which one would work? Would a USB cable work? My PC is old so I can't use an HDMI cable. It has audio output with a picture of headphones (color green) and my HDTV has Left and Right audio Component/AV (color red and white). Maybe they're incompatible? How can I circumvent these connections? Thank you!

You need a stereo mini jack to rca cable. You plug the mini jack into the headphone jack and the rca plugs into the rca inputs on your tv. You will probably have to go into the tv menu to set this up.

Thanks! I believe Best Buy gave me one of those cables but there were no instructions and I didn't know I had to set it up using the menu on my TV. All I found is the input set up for VGA or HDMI. My TV came with no manual, just basic instructions; and if you don't have what they show, you're doomed.

There might be an audio setup on your TV but if not try plugging it in and see if that works. It won't hurt anything.
