On your laptop, do you have a newer-style Type C port for USB3 available, or only an older Type A? You need that little second adapter ONLY if your must use a Type A socket on your laptop, because the first item (the actual network-to-USB adapter) says it has a Type C connector plug on its short cable.

Be aware that, IF the laptop has only a Type A AND that port is only a USB2 port, the communication speed will be much slower than a USB3 port can do. But it still WILL work.
