Hi,
I have a desktop and an internet connection which is provided by my local cable provider.
I also have a wi fi router which I connect phones and laptops.

I have a question.
Can I connect my desktop through my wi fi router.

Means here is a simple flow chart:

wifi router---> smart phone (connected with internet)---> smartphone is then connected through USB thethering with the desktop----> Can I use internet this way on my desktop?

Solution
I don't believe this is possible, sorry. I've seen quite a few people ask and haven't seen any get it working.

As above, you can use a USB WiFi dongle.

If you're near the router and it has a spare LAN port, you could use an ethernet cable.
definite maybe. Most smartphone will allow you to tether them to a desktop to provide internet. But with all phones I have experience with, the phones WiFi has to turn off. so you can only use your phones data to tether internet. It would be a much faster and more reliable solution to just purchase a WiFi adapter for your computer.
