I have cracked the hard drive connector on a laptop board. It is in an HP Pavilion dv4-2045dx. Can I buy that seperate from the whole board? How would I get it off/on?
This laptop will not recognize a hard drive, no matter what I do. Where is the hard drive controller? Inside the hard drive or on the board? I have the board taken out. It could be that it is not getting a proper connection, but the hard drive was not recognized in the bios or while installing Win7 before I cracked it. I tried Ubuntu and various other Toshiba diagnostics loaded via divers upload in the Win 7 setup. All the pins/receptacles are there. Thanks I also would like to look at a diagram of the board as well.

Hello,
I have the exact same problem, same exact laptop. New hard drive not recognized. So I installed it in another laptop to rule out something wrong with the hard drive and further determined that it was the connector on the system board. I would appreciate if you let me know as soon as possible if you were able to resolve your issue. Thank you. Rick M.

I am actually looking into getting a new board. I found some for around $170, but man, that's a bummer. I also think that this is a common problem, due to the fact that so many are for sale for parts. The board is also somewhat hard to find. Als, please let me know if you figure something out.
