Question Constant blue screen crashes in certain games

Hi,

This is my first time posting and I hope someone can help

I am getting constant 'blue screen of death' crashes in certain games, fully shutting the PC down most of the time.

The games I've noticed it in so far are Cities: Skylines, Total War: Warhammer 2, and Total War: Warhammer 3. The games crash very soon after starting with the windows error messages 'WHEA uncorrectable' or 'Kernel mode exception not handled' usually being the error messages that appear.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games, both on to the hard drive and an SSD but with the same results. The PC was built by PCSpecialist in the UK and I got it at the start of 2018, so I wouldn't expect any performance issues at this stage with the specs that it has.

This only starting happening in early 2021 and at first, rolling back my graphics drivers to early versions seemed to fix it. But even this doesn't work anymore

Sounds like an issue with either the hardware and/or software on your PC, or even both. By any chance have you overclocked/OC'd the GTX 1080 Ti ? If yes, then revert back to default factory settings, and clock speeds.

The WHEA uncorrectable error is a stop code displayed during blue screen/BSOD crashes and is usually due to hardware failure. A failing hard drive/HDD/SSD, defective system memory/RAM, improperly seated CPU, and a variety of other hardware issues can all result in a WHEA uncorrectable alert error.

In addition to faulty hardware, this error message can also result from driver conflicts and missing Windows updates that cause hardware to work or not work in unexpected ways. In some cases, overclocking can also cause this error to appear due to the extra strain overclocking puts on your CPU.

If you have overclocked your CPU, then again revert back to factory settings, and then try playing any graphic demanding game. What is the GPU and CPU's Temp value during gaming ?

Make sure the system device drivers, firmware, BIOS, and Windows OS files are also fully up-to-date as well.
