I just bought an Advent 7012 laptop in the UK, with the 2.6GHz P4. The cooling fan annoyingly stays on all the time. As I've only owned 2 other laptops (with a 1.0GHz Celeron and a 1.4GHz P4), I dont know if this is normal. Is it? Does anyone know how I can change this so it only kicks on during high process times (like my 2 other computers), and if this is advisable. Someone else also told me that this may be a desktop designed chip stuffed into a laptop. And one final Q, do most modern (less than 6 months old) typially have their fans constantly running? Sorry for all the questions but Im not too familiar with laptop performace.
Any info will be much appreciated!
