Question Cords needed to connect external SSD?

Hello, I am dang near completion of my first ever gaming pc build. One of my last remaining steps is connecting my storage drive. I am planning on using a single external SSD as the primary storage drive as well as for the OS. It is an HP S700 500GB SSD. However, since I bought both my PSU and my motherboard used, neither of them came with any of the cables that I presume would normally be used to hook up this drive. I am at a loss as to exactly which cables I need? For this specific SSD, do I need both a cable that connects the SSD to the PSU, as well as another cable that connects the SSD to the motherboard? If so, where can I acquire said cables? And why does the drive have SATA III in the name, but on the back of the drive it says that the interface is SATA 6.0gb? I know this is a lot of questions, but I am new to all of this. Thank you in advance for any help!

SATA III is the same as SATA 6.0gb - just different nomenclature.

You are correct that you'll need two separate cables.

The SATA cable to go from the SSD to the motherboard can be purchased anywhere - https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=sata+data+cable

The power cable, though, that goes from the SSD to the PSU has to come from the PSU manufacturer. If you bought a modular PSU (meaning a PSU that can have it's cables removed if not needed), then you'll have to contact the manufacturer to buy replacement cables. But if you have a non-modular PSU (meaning all the cables come connected and cannot be removed) you don't need to buy anything else.

What is the make/model of the PSU you have?

Thanks for the quick response and the help so far. My PSU is a Corsair CX750M, and it came with a bunch of cables pre-attached, not sure if they can be removed or not, but I don't think that the cable I need is already there...

The power connector from the PSU should look like the middle one:

And the CX750M is a semi-modular design - the ATX and CPU power are permanently attached to the PSU.

I believe all the auxiliary connectors (e.g. SATA and PCIe power) can be removed. If you did not receive these cables when you purchased the PSU you will need to contact Corsair.

So.... is it possible for me to purchase the two cables that I need and then problem solved? or is it more complicated than that?
