Core 2 Duo Compatibility / INTEL mb / FSB issue?

I have salvaged some computer parts from a lot of out of commission computers. I seem to have everything together to build a machine, however, i'm having a compatibility issue.

Motherboard
Intel DG965SS

CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850

They share socket LGA775 setup, however, the FSB speed is 1333 for the processor and that speed doesn't seem to be supported by my Motherboard. I tried installing it anyway, however, no go...

I do have a Pentium D 3.0 that is working on the motherboard.

My question is, can I lower the FSB in the BIOS, then install the processor? Or do I just have to look for a different motherboard? Thanks!

Just because it fits, doesn't mean it will work. According to Intel's documentation, that board doesn't support anything beyond a Pentium D.

Will probably have to look for another motherboard as Intel boards are multiplier locked so you won't be able to change the speed (I think).
