Hello all, I have a Foxconn G33M02 MB which is currently running a Core2 Duo E7400. I would like to know if I can drop in a Core2 Quad CPU into this mb without modifications. I have a 600w psu and a well ventilated case. If any more info is needed please let me know. I would also like recommendations on which quad is the best per value for gaming. I do not OC and ddo not need a state of the art newer setup as my current setup plays the games I like just fine. I would just like to upgrade my cpu power and have read the Core2 Quad was and is still a very powerfull cpu, thanks.

If it is a Dell, you may have less chance of success since Dell may not have microcode to support it or may have some other limitation or it may have none at all. Dell is notorious for it's bespoke components being more difficult to work with. As are all other manufacturers.

That M02 suffix worries me a little bit - that may be the thing that affects your compatibility. It's specific to Dell motherboards from Foxconn.
the spec page says it will run a core 2 quad. which one to get really depends on the prices you can find. obviously you want the best you can get for the cheapest price. i have an old q6600 (the lowest quad model available) system paired with an r9-270 and it games very well at 1080p. mostly high settings with some of the eye candy turned off.

i have not priced the old core 2 quads so i have no idea what they cost now. i would assume you can find one used for pretty cheap. since i can game well on a q6600, i would think any quad you can find at a good price would be a good buy. the q9*** series are the best ones but will of course cost the most.
