I just got a secondhand Corsair HS50 gaming headset with a mic. It is a single jack connection, but came with a splitter adapter that has both audio input and output. My laptop only has one audio jack, but I do have a Logitech USB adapter designed for audio input/output 3.5 mm jacks. My question is should I plug the one combined jack into the laptop audio jack or should I use the splitter and use the USB adapter? I'm mainly concerned about audio quality and how my mic sounds to other people in a VOIP or Discord call.

Just use combined jack. There shouldn't be any difference between usb and just the jack in terms of quality. However if there is the jack is normally always the better option out of the 2 and won't cause odd driver issues.

So I tried to use the combined jack but my mic wasn't working, the audio input was coming from the laptop mic. Is this a limitation of the laptop?
