Corsair Obsidian Series 550D Quick Question

Hey guys, I have a quick question about the Corsair 550D case. I want to put a fan in the bottom slot, but not sure if my PSU is the right size to accomplish that.

Here is the case and the PSU, plus my full build I"m planning on.

There is space for installing an optional 120 mm or 140 mm fan on the bottom panel. If a 140 mm fan is installed, you can only install power supplies that are up to 6.3” (160 mm) deep. With a 120 mm fan installed, you are able to install a power supply up to 7.1” (180 mm) deep. If you have a power supply deeper than that, you won’t be able to install a fan on the bottom panel.

You also have to take into account the cables. If they come out of the PSU at the very bottom then they will have trouble clearing any obstruction, but if they are more than 25mm (the standard height of 120/140mm fans) above the bottom of the case then you could theoretically have a fan right up against the PSU case.

The Corsair TX850 V2 is 160mm deep.
The Seasonic M12II Bronze 620 that you had in your wishlist when I looked at it is also 160mm deep.

Awesome thank you very much! I should be able to fit a 120mm fan then to be on the safe side. If I upgraded to a the NIVDA 680 instead of the 7850, would the 620 power be enough? I just recently looked at the 850 because there is a package deal with the case.

Yes the Seasonic M12II Bronze 620 is enough for a system with a single GTX 680, even with overclocking.
However it would not really be enough if you want the option to add a second GTX 680 at any point in the future. This is because you would need a unit with four PCIe connectors, which the Seasonic 620 doesn't have.
A system with two GTX 680s wouldn't overload the Seasonic 620, but it would be pushing it above 80% on a heavy/gaming load. I personally recommend 750W units for systems with two GTX 680s.

Thats good to know, thanks. Would the 850W do just as well as the 750W? The only reason is with my case the 850 is cheaper then the 750.

Yea, it's almost always fine to go ~100W above a recommendation, especially if it means getting a unit cheaper.
