Hi guys I have a question. I just bought a new pc from OCUK and it came with a corsair tx 750w PSU. For some reason the fan isn't spinning on it.
Now i've looked into it slightly and found that on some PSU's the fan does not spin until it requires it to spin when it reaches higher temps. One thing which is anoying about it is, some times when playing game and the temps of the psu increase due to GPU kicking in and such. The fan starts to whine a little bit and the fan twitches like it can't make its mind up weather it wants to start or not. As of yet I can't get the fan to spin.

Is there something out there that can force the fan to spin so I can test if there is a fault with the PSU or not.

Hope this makes sense!

Sounds like the fan is either broken or fouling on something. Contact their customer services to see what they can do/suggest.

They only way to test it would be to put it under a high load, but since the fan is whining and twitching, it is trying to spin but cant, there is definitely a problem.

I have the same PSU and I really shited my pants when I'v notice that the fan is not spinning but here calm down. This is a copy paste from the Corsair site.

"Quiet operation at low loads

Basic PC power supplies have fans that spin whenever your PC is on – whether you’re pushing your graphics card to the limit or just surfing the web. HX Series power supplies are smarter than that: they generate less heat, so they require less cooling, and the thermally controlled fan ONLY SPINS WHEN IT'S NEEDED."

Ι signed up to answer this thread. This feature is a NEW addition to TX Series. There is no reason to worry about it. I just installed my new Psu TXM 750 and the fan does not spinning under low load. It will spin only if the psu's temp is over a specific number.

Sorry for my english.

hadnt heard that

do you have a link to show it?

Here budy scroll down and look for: "Features

Advanced temperature-controlled fan with Zero RPM mode

The fan doesn’t even spin at low loads, so you’ll enjoy virtually silent operation. And when you’re pushing it hard, the double ball bearing 140mm fan adjusts its speed according to temperature, so it only works as hard as it needs to. "
